Zelensky Thanks Andorran Leader Espot for Ukraine Independence Day Solidarity

Ukrainian President Volodímir Zelensky has thanked Andorran Head of Government Xavier Espot for a message of support sent ahead of Ukraine's 35th Independence Day anniversary.

In a post on his X account, Zelensky expressed "sincere gratitude" to Espot for the gesture, highlighting Andorra's "constant solidarity" with the Ukrainian people. He specifically praised the Principat's commitment to international law and the shared goal of restoring lasting peace, closing with a direct "Thank you, Andorra!"

The exchange stems from a letter Espot sent on 19 August, responding to Zelensky's invitation to attend commemorations in Kyiv on 24 August. Espot noted prior commitments prevented his attendance and expressed deep regret at missing the event, which he described as symbolizing Ukraine's determination to defend its freedom, sovereignty, and right to determine its future.

On behalf of himself and the Andorran government, Espot offered sincere solidarity and firm support to Ukraine. He reaffirmed Andorra's dedication to the United Nations Charter, respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and efforts toward a just and lasting peace under international law.

Zelensky shared the correspondence publicly on 25 August. The interaction underscores Andorra's ongoing support for Ukraine amid its conflict, consistent with the country's focus on global stability and legal principles.
