Gerard Alís, the PS candidate for head of government, has played down the prospect of including Escaldes-Engordany mayor Rosa Gili in a joint progressive territorial platform ahead of the general elections, stating that no such discussions are taking place.
In comments to the Andorran News Agency reported by Diari d'Andorra on Friday, Alís acknowledged that Gili's involvement could generate tensions within the PS, given her departure from the party. He reiterated that she would have no role on a PS-only list, though parties cannot dictate each other's candidates.
Alís urged Gili to honour her commitment to finish her mayoral term and stressed that any shift to national politics would be her decision alone. While the PS is selecting candidates for potential joint platforms, her name has not emerged in talks despite her prominence.
"No negotiations on this are underway at present," Alís said previously, emphasising the need for consensus amid policy differences and personal dynamics in Andorra's fragmented political scene. The remarks highlight ongoing challenges in uniting progressive forces.
