The Andorra la Vella comú has approved a call for a national tender to supply and install 110 video surveillance cameras across communal facilities and public spaces, with a budget of 47,200 euros.

The contract covers the cameras themselves as well as recording and storage systems, network video recorders, hard drives and the work required to bring the system into operation. According to the comú, the devices will be adapted to the characteristics of each location, with models for indoor spaces as well as entrances and outdoor areas. The equipment will include outdoor cameras with night vision, panoramic units and compact devices, chosen according to each site's needs.

The rollout will cover sports and cultural facilities, car parks, administrative offices, lifts and installations linked to the water service. Among the locations earmarked for reinforcement are the Centre Esportiu dels Serradells, the Estadi Comunal, the Centre Cultural La Llacuna and the Teatre Comunal, along with the Tràmits office in Santa Coloma, the nursery school, the Cedre building and Borda Nova.

For barrier-controlled car parks, cameras are planned at Parc Central, Fluvial, Serradora, Fener 2, Santa Coloma and Valira. Devices will also be installed at the Dipòsit Comunal de Vehicles, in several lifts and at other points used for traffic control. The surveillance extension reaches essential-service infrastructure, including the Birena reservoir and the Comella and Escaubelles water intakes, with the aim of strengthening oversight of the parish's water supply network.

Councillor for Car Parks and Traffic Xavier Surana said the facilities concerned are part of daily life for many people and should be usable with safety and peace of mind. He added that the cameras would improve the ability to detect and clarify incidents, protect communal property and tailor surveillance to the needs of each installation.
