  • Success would mark Andorra's first seat on the Bureau.

Andorra's candidacy for a seat on the executive Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) has secured majority support from presidents of the Europe region, including explicit endorsement from Poland's section. The proposal now awaits final approval at the APF plenary assembly in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 7 to 12 July.

Marc Magallón, president of Andorra's APF section and a general councillor, represented the country at the Conference of Presidents for the Europe region in Warsaw, Poland, on 13 and 14 April. During the opening day, Anne Lambelin, the region's delegate, informed the Andorran delegation of the candidacy. It gained backing from a majority of attending presidents representing European states in the organisation.

Final ratification rests with the plenary session. If approved, Andorra would join the Bureau for the first time. The body ensures execution of decisions from plenary meetings. The General Council described the step as a milestone for the Andorran section, strengthening the country's active role in Francophonie and enhancing its influence within the organisation's global bodies.

The conference also included an audit of the Europe region's 2025 budget accounts. Magallón worked alongside Switzerland's section and the regional secretariat to examine the figures, which require endorsement at the next Regional Europe Assembly in autumn 2026.
