Former general councillors who participated in Andorra's Constitutional Process gathered yesterday at FEDA's hydroelectric plant in Escaldes-Engordany to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Constitution's final draft approval.
The event formed part of the group's annual institutional visit, which rotates across parishes each year. This year's meeting took place in Escaldes-Engordany, with the next scheduled for Canillo. Participants toured the facility and received a historical overview of the state-owned energy company.
The occasion held special institutional significance as the first presided over by FEDA's new director general, Sílvia Calvó, alongside deputy director general Albert Moles. They personally hosted the group and led the tour. FEDA officials emphasised the visitors' pivotal role in shaping Andorra's political and institutional framework, while sharing updates on the national energy infrastructure's development.
Among the attendees were prominent figures from Andorran politics tied to the Constitutional Process, including Jaume Bartumeu, Josep Garrallà, Miquel Armengol and Jordi Farràs. Other former councillors present included Aleix Areny, Joan Santamaria, Miquel Naudi and Miquel Casal.
Miquel Armengol described the annual gatherings as a way to "keep alive the bond among the protagonists of that historic period and reflect on the path travelled since the Constitution's approval". The group praised FEDA's progress and its contributions to the country's growth. Armengol noted that, beyond the data shared, he was struck by "the professionalism of the team and the public company's forward-looking vision in energy matters".
The day concluded with an informal session where the ex-councillors exchanged memories from one of the Principality's most defining chapters in contemporary history.
