General Syndic Carles Ensenyat and Deputy General Syndic Sandra Codina toured Pas de la Casa on Wednesday, joined by Encamp councillors Laura Mas and Xavier Fernàndez, as well as several members of the local council.
The visit aligned with the syndics' annual efforts to inspect all Andorran parishes. Organised by Encamp's Comú, the itinerary highlighted current and upcoming initiatives to improve the village's commercial zone. It started at the Pas de la Casa tourist office, where officials outlined plans for a new exhibition space.
The group proceeded along Avinguda d'Encamp to examine ongoing remodelling and enhancement works. They also inspected the new SAETDE services building at the base of the ski slopes, constructed as part of a recent ski domain concession agreement.
Additional stops covered sites earmarked for renovation, including Plaça de l'Església, where renderings illustrated its planned redesign. The syndics reviewed local facilities upgraded by Encamp's Comú to support residents, such as Bressol Els Marrecs nursery school, the LLaç d'Animació centre, and the youth area.
Officials provided updates on the sports centre refurbishment, which aims to accommodate professional athletes during training periods. Planned since late last year, the outing also offered a chance to gauge the village's mood and evaluate economic strains from the late-January landslide that shut the RN-20 road. The closure has notably affected Pas de la Casa's business community, especially retail outlets dependent on French day visitors.
The tour concluded in Grau Roig at the new Vaquer cabin in the Burna flatland, currently housing SAETDE operations and set to serve as summer lodging for the communal herdsman.
