The Bishop of Urgell and Episcopal Co‑Prince of Andorra, Josep‑Lluís Serrano Pentinat, made his first official visit to the Comú d’Andorra la Vella on Wednesday. He was received by the cònsol major, Sergi González, and the cònsol menor, Olalla Losada, in a meeting intended to introduce the Coprince and to share the main lines of work between institutions.
The reception began at Plaça Príncep Benlloch and included the signing of the Llibre d’Or before moving to the Sala del Consell, where councillors and municipal technical teams welcomed and greeted Serrano Pentinat personally. An official photograph was taken and institutional gifts were exchanged.
In his institutional remarks, Sergi González said the comú works “to put people at the centre,” describing that approach as a way of governing rather than a slogan. He reviewed current and planned projects for the parish, citing the transformation of Plaça del Poble, housing initiatives such as the Reviu programme, the imminent opening of the Poblet de Nadal and the future Espai Capital, all framed around citizen participation.
Serrano Pentinat underlined the importance of joint work between administrations and called for openness, citizen participation and unity in planning for the future. He noted Andorra la Vella’s particular identity, saying it is the highest capital in Europe and should be consolidated as the capital of the Pyrenees.
The Coprince toured the municipal building’s different floors and met municipal staff, then visited the comú’s new premises, passing by the Circulation services and the BiciLab Andorra. The delegation had an institutional lunch at Casal Calones and later visited Plaça del Poble, where the cònsols explained the planned transformation projects, including Espai Capital.
The visit ended at the Casa del Poble with a snack shared with elderly residents. Municipal leaders said the day strengthened institutional dialogue and allowed them to present in detail the projects, challenges and priorities that will guide Andorra la Vella in the coming years.
