Concòrdia and PS Negotiate Joint Lists to Challenge Demòcrates in Andorra Elections

Concòrdia and the Partit Socialdemòcrata (PS) are advancing negotiations to form joint electoral lists for the upcoming general elections, initially scheduled for spring 2027, as a strategy to challenge Demòcrates' dominance.

The two parties agree that collaboration is essential, particularly in the territorial constituencies where much of the election outcome will be decided. Sources indicate they are considering candidatures without their official party acronyms, largely composed of independents backed by members from both formations. These lists would emphasise a "progressive spring" or "coalitions for change," aiming to counter labels of "radicals" or "extremists" applied by Demòcrates, who position themselves as the political centre.

Party leaders recognise that running separately in most parishes would hand an advantage to Demòcrates. They draw encouragement from 2023 local election successes, such as Enclar's win in Andorra la Vella and Consens' in Escaldes-Engordany, where similar parish-level pacts proved effective. The proposed slates would receive financial and logistical support from Concòrdia and PS but avoid direct party branding to broaden appeal and frame the effort as a broader progressive movement rather than a narrow partisan deal.

Such lists would advocate for government change after years of Demòcrates' "orange" rule, alongside shared priorities like more measured economic growth and measures to address the housing crisis.

In the national constituency, however, each party plans to field its own list: Concòrdia with Cerni Escalé likely as lead candidate once again, and PS pending primaries scheduled for 2026.

Discussions continue, with both sides aware that some voters may question the alliance. Negotiators expect to finalise details in coming months, building on prior parish agreements from the 2023 locals.
