David Cid, spokesperson for Els Comuns in the Catalan Parliament, accused Junts yesterday of seeking to transform Catalonia into "the Andorra of the south" by adopting the "Ayuso doctrine" and dismantling the social ladder during their years in government.

Cid made the remarks during a plenary session dedicated to social mobility, where he rebuked Junts lawmakers for "playing Monopoly" with cities and towns. He pinpointed housing as the main obstacle stopping people from making ends meet, criticising Junts for failing to use their self-governing powers on the issue while leading the Generalitat.

The Els Comuns leader stressed that generating wealth is not the core problem, but rather "who pockets it." He faulted Junts for overlooking those who grow rich off workers' lives and called for restrictions on the property market alongside a ban on speculative buying. Cid also attacked Junts' reductions to inheritance tax and their higher education policies.

"Large inheritances are the ones that should pay. I want them to pay so that people from working-class backgrounds can attend university. That's Catalonia's social ladder," he asserted.
