The Escaldes-Engordany parish council held its annual Children's Council on Tuesday morning, providing school pupils from various educational systems a platform to present, discuss, and defend proposals developed through prior classroom work and a preparatory commission.

The young participants prioritised improvements in cleanliness, pedestrian safety, and social and environmental welfare. Their specific ideas included enhanced maintenance of the stairs on Carrer de les Peces Caldes, bolstered protections at school-area crosswalks, a dedicated circuit for dogs, and support schemes to assist elderly residents with administrative procedures.

Cònsol Major Rosa Gili and Childhood Councillor Maria Carriço praised the pupils' engagement, noting the social and welfare-oriented nature of the suggestions. They highlighted how the ideas demonstrate the children's sensitivity and dedication to parish life.

Following detailed discussions, the council pledged to assess all proposals for feasibility and potential rollout. Some, such as elderly administrative aid and dog spaces, are already under consideration in ongoing initiatives. A formal plenary vote on the measures is scheduled for next month in June.

The event also featured guests including UNICEF sensitisation technician Aina Segarra, Ainhoa Guevarra as head of area and Vanessa Caballero as head of studies from the Ministry of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, along with teachers from local schools.
