The Escaldes-Engordany town council will move its traffic service offices to new owned premises on Avinguda del Fener, acquired through a compulsory transfer linked to a nearby development at the corner of Carrer Sant Antoni. The spaces form part of the residential Can Vidal project and total more than 1,100 square metres.
The premises were obtained in 2021 as payment in kind for the construction tax rather than a cash payment; the council also paid about €285,000 for an additional unit to increase the total area. The new building is nearly finished, and the council will take possession once fit-out works are completed.
A public tender has been launched to award the adaptation contract, with the aim of selecting a contractor before the end of the year. The works are estimated at €832,535 and are scheduled to be completed within a maximum of 20 months from the start, meaning the spaces should be available around mid‑2026.
The largest area, 433 m², will house the traffic service’s new offices, including changing rooms, a citizen service area, managers’ offices, a large central hall, an information session room and a conference room. A second major area of 416 m² will host textile, ceramics and glass workshops currently run by the council at the Caldea building; these will be relocated once works finish.
The project also includes a 60 m² exhibition room, 107.5 m² of citizen service facilities and a 108 m² dance studio. Access to the premises will be via an interior plaza with an entrance from Avinguda del Fener.
