Eva Sansa, the current mayor of La Massana parish, has announced she will not seek re-election after her term ends, citing the personal toll of a decade in local politics.
In an interview with RTVA, Sansa described the exhaustion from her roles over the past ten years, including four as first councillor and the last two as mayor. She expressed regret that "my children have grown up and I haven't even noticed," highlighting the intense demands of the position. Despite the challenges, she said she is "very happy to have done it" and emphasised the importance of making way for new generations and fresh perspectives in politics.
Sansa praised her government's team for their strong performance and singled out current deputy mayor Roger Fité as her preferred successor to lead the parish. "He has proven to be extremely proactive and has brought himself fully up to speed on communal matters," she said, adding that "for me, he would be the leader for the next elections."
