French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Andorra on 27 and 28 April as co-prince, accompanied by his wife Brigitte Macron, subject to global events. Government spokesman Guillem Casal announced the schedule during a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting.
The visit, running from afternoon to afternoon, revives a programme originally planned for October but postponed due to political instability in France. The centrepiece will be Macron's public address at Plaça del Poble in Andorra la Vella on the morning of 28 April. This will follow a solemn session at the Consell General—previously referred to as Casa de la Vall—with Episcopal Co-Prince Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat in attendance.
The itinerary, still being finalised in coordination with the Élysée Palace, includes a bilateral meeting with Head of Government Xavier Espot, an encounter with Serrano Pentinat, and visits to educational centres in Andorra and France. Around 15 recently accredited ambassadors will present their credentials simultaneously to both co-princes for the first time.
Macron and Serrano Pentinat will receive Andorra's highest honour, the Creu dels Set Braços. Casal noted the trip will adopt a "sensibly different" format from Macron's only prior visit in September 2019, when he toured all parishes—a highlight that drew crowds. This time, parish visits are ruled out in favour of showcasing other sites and realities of the country, while preserving a sense of closeness to citizens through institutional events and the public speech.
