David Astrié, an opposition councillor in Andorra la Vella's municipal council, criticised current Mayor Sergi González on Tuesday for failing to halt the construction of two new high-rise towers in the city centre, despite previously opposing similar projects.

Speaking on Ràdio Nacional's *Avui serà un bon dia* programme, Astrié pointed out that these towers would add to two others already under way. He accused González of condemning the developments when in opposition but taking no action now in office. The councillor argued that the mayor could have reviewed the municipal urban planning scheme (POUP) to block such buildings.

Astrié acknowledged some benefits, noting that the towers can free up public spaces in certain instances and house new municipal facilities. Even so, he called for corrections if planning has spiralled out of control. "We are at the moment to rectify, but this council seems to be playing rugby, always pushing forward and postponing decisions," he said.

The exchange highlights ongoing tensions over urban development in Andorra la Vella, where high-rises have become a flashpoint between growth advocates and those concerned about overdevelopment.
