Salomé Weis, a German translator with expertise in advertising, communication, and marketing, has been appointed as the new honorary consul for the United Kingdom in Andorra, succeeding Fiona Dean.
British authorities began the selection process months ago after Dean announced her retirement from the role on 31 December. She had served for 17 years. Weis becomes the fourth British honorary consul in the Principat since diplomatic relations were established on 9 March 1994.
Like her recent predecessors, Weis will not maintain a dedicated office in Andorra. All administrative tasks will be handled through the UK consulate general in Barcelona. She will act as the on-the-ground representative for British officials, serving as their eyes and ears locally.
Weis, who has lived in Andorra since mid-2018, is ready to assume her duties. British authorities have requested her exequatur, and no obstacles remain to her exercising the position.
Her professional background includes work at various communication and events firms. She holds a degree in translation and interpreting, along with master's degrees in literary translation and advertising and communication. Currently, she runs her own company offering translation services—including sworn translations and interpreting—as well as multilingual communication support.
