Susanna Vela, president of the Social Democratic Parliamentary Group and general councillor, has publicly criticised Escaldes-Engordany's major consellera, Rosa Gili, for undemocratic governance practices. Speaking on RNA's *Avui serà un bon dia* programme hosted by Gabriel Fernàndez this morning, Vela explained the Social Democrats' decision to leave the parish's governing majority.
She cited deep disagreements over both policy substance and decision-making processes. The party felt uneasy as the agreed political programme was not advancing as planned. "We had a programme and we understand that it is not being pushed forward," Vela said.
Vela highlighted Gili's leadership style as particularly problematic, accusing her of making key decisions without sufficient consensus or internal dialogue. "They took a series of decisions that we consider undemocratic and things are not done that way," she stated.
While acknowledging that internal criticism is normal in any government, Vela expressed regret over the limited space for debate and dissent within the coalition. She described this lack of "democratic flexibility" as a key factor in the Social Democrats' withdrawal from Escaldes-Engordany's majority.
