The Spanish Consulate General in Andorra has called elections to form the Spanish Residents' Council (CRE) for its consular district, in line with article 4 of Order AEC/2172/2010, dated 13 July.
Candidates have two months from the publication of the call notice on the consulate's bulletin board to submit their applications at the consulate itself. Interested parties must meet the requirements outlined in articles 6 and 8 of the same regulation. Eligible candidates are Spanish citizens aged 18 or over who were registered in the Register of Resident Spaniards Abroad (PERE) for the consular district in the month prior to the call.
Voting rights extend to all Spaniards listed in the PERE for that period who had reached the age of majority before election day. The Election Commission will set the exact date for the elections within the timelines specified in the regulatory order.
The CRE serves as an advisory body representing the Spanish community abroad to the consulate and Spanish authorities. Its primary role is to safeguard the rights and interests of Spanish residents.
