UK tightens ETA rules for Andorran travellers from 25 Feb 2026
Andorran citizens without UK residence must hold a confirmed Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travel; airlines will refuse boarding with.
Key Points
- From 25 Feb 2026 Andorrans without UK visa or legal residence (e.g. EUSS, ILR) must hold a confirmed ETA before travel.
- ETA requirement in effect since 2 Apr 2025; after 25 Feb airlines will deny boarding if ETA is only pending.
- ETA required for short visits (tourism, business, family) and transit that passes through border control.
- ETA does not permit work or study; travellers must obtain the relevant visa for those activities.
From 25 February 2026, Andorran citizens who do not hold a visa or legal residence status in the United Kingdom (such as EUSS or Indefinite Leave to Remain) will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to travel to the UK.
The ETA requirement has been in place since 2 April 2025, but stricter rules take effect on 25 February 2026: airlines will no longer allow passengers to board with only a pending ETA application — travellers must have a confirmed, favourable decision before departure.
The ETA is required for Andorrans who are not UK residents and who travel for short visits for tourism, business, family visits and similar purposes. It is also required for transit through the UK when travellers must pass through border control.
An ETA does not permit working or studying in the UK; those travelling to work or study must obtain the appropriate visa.
