Andorran drivers Gerard de la Casa and Joan Gil secured podium finishes at the Alcover hill climb, the opening round of the 2026 Catalan Mountain Championship.

Joan Gil, representing ACA Club, claimed second place overall and victory in the CM Promoció subcategory. De la Casa took second in the touring car class with his Ford Fiesta, finishing fourth in the overall standings.

The ninth edition of the event took place on 30 March in Alcover. De la Casa set strong times from practice despite a minor off-track excursion. In the first competitive run, he improved further to secure fourth overall and second in touring cars, positioning him on the podium. He pushed harder in the second and final run, posting the fastest time of the day in that leg and beating Jordi Gaig in their category duel. However, Gaig's stronger first-run performance held him off for the class win.

Gil's outright runner-up spot highlighted Andorran strength in the opener. The next round is set for Sant Mateu in April.
