Key Points
- Xavi Cardelús and Cerba Yamaha Racing aim to rebound at Portimão after rainy Phillip Island opener.
- Disputed points from Australia: 14 per El Periòdic, 2 per Diari d'Andorra.
- Team refined Yamaha YZF-R9 settings for grip and rear tyre issues.
- Races scheduled Saturday and Sunday at 15:00 local time.
Andorran rider Xavi Cardelús and his Cerba Yamaha Racing Team head into the World Supersport Championship's second round at Portugal's Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão this weekend, aiming to overcome the challenges from the rain-affected Phillip Island opener.
Reports differ on Cardelús's points from Australia: El Periòdic states he scored 14, while Diari d'Andorra mentions two. Since then, the rider and technicians have analyzed grip issues and rear tyre performance on the Yamaha YZF-R9, refining basic settings to better suit its behaviour. "We're going to fight for the results we deserve, based on our ability and experience," Cardelús said, adding that the team wants to put Australia behind them.
The Portimão circuit's demanding layout will challenge these adjustments. Superpole qualifying starts Friday at 17:00 local time, with races at 15:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
After a tricky debut, Cardelús targets a stronger performance to climb the early standings.
