Canillo Hosts Seventh Olympus Race Andorra, First Spanish OCR Championship Outside Spain

The parish of Canillo will host the seventh edition of Olympus Race Andorra from April 30 to May 3, marking the first time the Spanish National Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Championship takes place outside Spain.

The event returns to the Tarter area for the fourth consecutive year, expanding from two to four days of activities and from four to seven competition formats. Organisers expect around 1,000 participants, with 800 already registered, alongside an estimated 4,000 spectators, 3,000 visitors, and 150 volunteers. The growth underscores efforts to establish the race on the international OCR calendar and position Andorra as a leading destination in the discipline.

Canillo's senior councillor, Jordi Alcobé, expressed satisfaction at hosting the national championship, noting it will generate activity in the parish and transform Tarter into a vibrant hub during the event. Olympus Race director Guillermo López-Cross highlighted the competition's steady expansion and commitment to improving its scope and quality. He outlined ambitions to host a European Championship by 2029 or 2030, stating that current developments demonstrate Andorra's and the event's readiness for such a major competition.

The opening day on April 30 will feature activities for pupils from Canillo's Andorran and French schools, aimed at promoting healthy habits and youth sports engagement. López-Cross emphasised the importance of introducing OCR locally through these initiatives.

Founded by Andorran residents Jürgen Espejo, Guillem López-Cross, and Edu Salerno, the race continues to professionalise, enhancing experiences for competitors and spectators alike.
