Nico Ratti Signs Contract Extension with FC Andorra Until 2029

Nico Ratti, FC Andorra's Italian-Argentine goalkeeper and longest-serving player, has signed a new contract extension with the club until 30 June 2029, securing his place for three more seasons.

The 32-year-old from Mendoza, who has lived in Andorra for over 20 years, joins as the only remaining player from the Kosmos project led by Gerard Piqué that began in 2019. A product of the club's youth system, Ratti debuted for the senior team at age 15 on 26 April 2009, replacing then-goalkeeper Koldo Álvarez de Eulate—now Andorra's national team coach—in a Primera Regional match against Albesa. The next season, still a youth player, he became the undisputed starter. His career included stints with Numancia's youth team, Llagostera—where he made his professional debut—and UE Sant Julià before rejoining FC Andorra in early 2019 amid the club's rise.

Ratti has appeared in more than 200 matches across five divisions, the only player to wear the tricolour shirt in each, contributing to three promotions from Primera Catalana to LaLiga Hypermotion—two in regional football. This season, however, his on-pitch role has been limited to two appearances, both losses: a 2-0 league defeat at Eibar's Ipurúa, where he stopped a penalty, and a 4-2 Copa del Rey exit against Cultural Leonesa. Rivals Áron Yaakobishvili and Jesús Óscar Owono have taken the starting spots.

In a club video, Ratti expressed delight at the deal, describing Andorra as "my home" and noting that discussions had been ongoing. He reflected on starting the project in Primera Catalana and reaching professional football, calling it "very nice." Ratti highlighted the team's strong form—58 points with three games left, close to surpassing their 59-point debut Segunda División tally under Eder Sarabia—while addressing his bench role: playing matters, but contributing as captain from outside does too, especially with his experience.

Ahead of Sunday's away game at Deportivo de la Coruña's Riazor, coach Carles Manso praised Ratti as a "key piece" in the dressing room and "an example for everyone." He stressed the goalkeeper's value in difficult moments and voiced pride in the extension, saying the club is "super proud" he will stay three more years. Manso also confirmed forward Lautaro de León's return from injury, pending final checks, while updating on others like Théo Le Normand's long-term absence.
