FC Andorra Disputes Referee Report After 0-1 Loss to Albacete, Threatens Legal Action

FC Andorra has strongly disputed the referee's match report following their 0-1 defeat to Albacete at Nou Estadi d'Encamp, demanding its correction and threatening legal action if changes are not made.

The controversy erupted after a late goal by Jogo in the 85th or 86th minute, which FC Andorra players and staff believed stemmed from an uncalled foul on Martí Vilà by José Lazo. Neither referee Alonso de Ena Wolf nor VAR intervened. The match descended into chaos in the final stages, with four expulsions from the Andorran bench: coach Carles Manso, Dani Ortiz, Jonathan Barreal, and Enrique Agudo.

Manso expressed puzzlement over his sending-off, noting it was the third time similar off-field issues had arisen with the same officiating trio. He described the decisive play as a possible trip on Vilà but stressed the loss resulted from an Andorran error that Albacete capitalized on, rather than refereeing alone.

Post-match tensions escalated in the tunnel and parking area, according to the referee's report and annex. It detailed delegate Cristian Lanzarote repeatedly calling an assistant "the worst in the category," director of football Jaume Nogués accusing officials of assigning de Ena Wolf despite a prior club letter to the RFEF's Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), and calling them "shameless." The report attributed a threatening attitude to majority shareholder Gerard Piqué, who followed the referee while protesting and shouting, "Now, if you want, put it in the report!"

Piqué took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize de Ena Wolf directly, stating the club had requested on March 23 that he not officiate further Andorra matches due to perceived lack of competence and a personal issue against them. He highlighted four red cards for protesting as "insultingly easy" and a "disgrace," adding, "Coincidences don't exist."

The annex, reportedly drafted after officials left Andorra—stopping at Valls de Valira roundabout—described further incidents: president Ferran Vilaseca allegedly approaching the fourth official aggressively, raising a fist; Nogués saying "I hope you have an accident"; and Piqué remarking, "In another country they'd beat you up, but here in Andorra we're civilized." Lanzarote was accused of heightening tension.

FC Andorra issued a statement expressing "firm disagreement," claiming parts of the report and annex do not accurately reflect events or conversations. The club denied Vilaseca intended aggression, Nogués wished harm, and Lanzarote inflamed matters—instead portraying him as calming the situation. They have requested security footage from the stadium and parking to verify facts and will defend their version before disciplinary bodies.

This follows a formal March 23 letter to the CTA citing de Ena Wolf's prejudicial style. He has officiated three Andorra matches this season: a 1-1 draw with Mirandés (also controversial over added time) and losses to Eibar and Albacete, both 0-1.

The Spanish Disciplinary Committee is set to rule on Wednesday, with potential sanctions under article 93.1 including fines up to €3,006, bans of one month to two years, partial stadium closures, or point deductions. Piqué and Nogués face elevated penalties due to prior incidents with de Ena Wolf. The four expelled staff risk one- to two-match bans unless insults are disproven. FC Andorra plans to submit evidence like footage to mitigate outcomes.
