Andorran Adrià Regada Takes Silver at Spanish U23 Road Champs

Andorran cyclist Adrià Regada finished second overall at the Spanish Under-23 Road Cycling Championships in Sabiñánigo, Huesca, on Saturday, just 19 seconds behind winner Manuel Sanroma from Castilla-La Mancha.

Regada, riding for the Andorran Cycling Federation (FAC), also secured the national Andorran title in the process. During the final lap on the circuit, he was part of a leading group that initially numbered around 17 riders. It narrowed down until Regada broke away with his Caja Rural-Alea teammate Marc Riberola. The pair built a lead of nearly 30 seconds and cooperated well until the escape was caught five kilometres from the finish.

Despite clinching the Andorran crown early, Regada pushed hard to the line without holding back. Reflecting afterwards, he said he had come very close to victory. "I've been right there. It won't be for lack of desire—I emptied myself completely. I dreamed of this but stayed at the gates. I'm progressing, and I don't want this to stop," he explained.

FAC president Carolina Poussier described the result as a historic day for Andorran cycling, crediting Regada and technical director Víctor de la Parte for their teamwork. The performance underscores Regada's strong form amid tough Spanish competition.
