Andbank Signs One-Year Sponsorship Deal with Andorran Volleyball Federation

Andbank and the Andorran Volleyball Federation (FAVB) have agreed on a one-year sponsorship deal, renewable annually, to support the federation's competitions, school programmes, beach volleyball efforts, and youth activities during a busy season.

FAVB president Xavier Folguera welcomed the partnership as a key step toward budget stability and growth. It will enable continued work with schools, student championships, and broader initiatives, he noted. Folguera highlighted the FAVB's role as one of Andorra's most active sports organisations, with diverse teams and events.

The deal precedes major events, including the Senior Women's Small States Indoor Volleyball Championship in three weeks at the Toni Martí sports centre—or the government's pavilion, per some accounts—with as many as seven teams competing. Andorra's squad returns after a break, featuring a youthful lineup following veteran retirements. "We're really excited—a very renewed team, very young but eager," Folguera said.

Other commitments include the under-19 Small States beach volleyball championships for women and men, the women's under-18 European Championship after last year's qualification, and a women's beach pair for European competition, with players still to be named. Youth teams travel to Tarragona this weekend for the Catalan championships, a qualifier for the Spanish event, while preparations advance for next year's Small States Games in Monaco.

Maria Suárez, Andbank's Country Banking Director, said the agreement aligns with the bank's commitment to local sport and emerging talent, citing common principles of perseverance and rigour. She commended the FAVB's energy, especially its women's programmes.

At the signing on Tuesday, Folguera revealed his son Xavi Folguera's move to Club Voleibol Guaguas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the reigning Spanish Superliga champions with 10 league titles, nine King's Cups, five Supercups, and one Iberian Cup. The 37-year-old setter—turning 38 in August—joins from Italy's CUS Cagliari and will share setter duties with 40-year-old Miguel Ángel de Amo Fernández-Echevarría. Pre-season begins mid-August under coach Sergio Miguel Camarero.

Xavi Folguera described the transfer as unexpected, even for him. He had sought a return to Spain amid a tight market but initially eyed Spain's Superliga 2 with Grupo Egido Pinto in Madrid for personal reasons. A call from Guaguas changed course. "It surprised even me... I couldn't say no," he said, calling it the ideal project: professional, title-contending, and a Champions League participant. Despite a challenging stint in Italy, he views it as a career capstone after stints with Numancia, Eivissa, Unicaja Almería (where he won the Superliga), Terol (Supercup winner), Río Duero Soria, Menen, Maaseik, and Melilla. "It's the best possible ending... a big personal reward," he added, planning one more season while feeling physically ready.
