A driver with Andorran licence plates suffered serious injuries in a fatal head-on collision on Saturday afternoon along the L-310 road in Torrefeta i Florejacs, in Catalonia's Segarra region.

The crash occurred around 4:30pm at kilometre marker 16.9, involving two cars, according to the Servei Català de Trànsit. The other driver, a 33-year-old man from Guissona identified as J.M.B.M., died at the scene. Emergency responders, including four Mossos d'Esquadra patrols, nine fire crews from the Generalitat, and several Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques units, attended.

The Andorran-plated driver became trapped in the wreckage and was airlifted by helicopter to Barcelona's Vall d'Hebron hospital with severe injuries. The impact also sparked a small fire at the roadside, and the road remained closed for over three hours while investigators examined the causes, which remain under review by the Mossos d'Esquadra.

In a separate incident on Sunday afternoon, a 33-year-old French tourist on a motorcycle with French plates was injured in a collision with an Andorran-plated car at kilometre 24.5 on the CG-2 at Port d'Envalira, in the Pas de la Casa area. Police reports indicate the car, travelling downhill, attempted to overtake another vehicle and tried to avoid the oncoming motorbike but could not prevent the impact. The rider, heading uphill, was taken to Andorra's Nostra Senyora de Meritxell hospital for treatment.
