Osasuna Wins Aleví on Penalties, Elx Claims Female Title at 25th Francesc Vila Youth Tournament

Osasuna won the aleví category on penalties against Elx, who claimed the female title over Toulouse, while Toulouse took the benjamí crown at the 25th Memorial Francesc Vila youth football tournament, held over the weekend at the FAF Training Centre in Santa Coloma.

The event marked a quarter-century milestone, drawing top clubs including Toulouse FC, Real Sociedad, Girona FC, CA Osasuna, Elx CF, CD Castelló, SD Osca, and Andorra's national teams. Hundreds of players, coaches, and families filled the venue for group stages and semifinals on Saturday, setting up Sunday's finals.

Elx dominated the opening day by qualifying for all three deciders but could not secure a clean sweep. In the aleví final, Osasuna edged out Elx in a tightly contested match decided by spot-kicks, with the Navarrese side showing greater precision from 11 meters. The victory triggered pitch invasions by jubilant players and staff. Osasuna captain Alain Murillo described it as a tough battle they held firm in, crediting a semifinal comeback and parental support. "Thanks to the parents for always cheering us—they help us a lot," he said, also noting the warm Andorran reception. Elx's squad included the son of former Spanish tennis star and coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

In the female category, Elx recovered from the aleví defeat to beat Toulouse by the narrowest of margins in a hard-fought final. Andorra's under-14 girls' team, coached by Carles Bazán and Catia da Silva, earned fifth place with three wins in five games against strong opposition. Bazán highlighted their competitiveness: "The girls did really well against top-level teams. We won three out of five, and the level was very high." He also praised the event's prestige and family atmosphere among participants.

Toulouse sealed its benjamí success early Sunday by overcoming Elx with solid play throughout, preventing a full Elx haul. Captain Lucas Martin called it an unforgettable experience against unfamiliar opponents: "We came eager to face different teams, learned a lot, and winning here is incredible."

Participants praised the competition's intensity and organisation. Elx's María Sánchez from the female team valued the friendships formed amid tough matches and the special Andorran memory, capped by their win. Girona FC's Pol Roca commended the high team quality, flawless setup, and excellent pitches.

The closing ceremony saw trophies and individual awards presented by Andorran Football Federation representatives, Andorra la Vella councillor Xavier Surana, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Mònica Bonell, and family members of Francesc Vila, the late key figure in Andorran football.
