UE Santa Coloma and Ranger’s FC Risk Relegation Over Missing Financial Docs

UE Santa Coloma and Ranger’s FC have six working days to submit additional financial documentation, including bank statements, or face automatic relegation from the Lliga Multisegur Assegurances.

The Competition Committee of the Andorran Football Federation (FAF) granted the extension after the clubs' initial submissions failed to secure approval following the June 10 registration deadline. Fèlix Álvarez, FAF president, confirmed the situation ahead of the federation's 32nd General Assembly at the Nou Estadi press room in Encamp. Without compliance by next Wednesday, the clubs would drop to the Lliga Grup Pirineu, with two second-division teams promoted to preserve a 10-team top flight. This has stalled the league calendar, as Álvarez explained: “We cannot set the schedule until we know the teams in Primera Divisió.”

UE Santa Coloma representative Efraín Martín expressed frustration over the tight timeline, noting the club had met original requirements and now faces new demands like debt clearance proofs. The club claims it is current on worker payments and CASS contributions, and has begun converting to a Societat Anònima d’Objecte Esportiu (SAOE). Martín stressed efforts to resolve the matter collaboratively: “We want everything to end well and will try until the end, but they have given little margin.” Ranger’s, meanwhile, reports confidence after settling a €26,000 public prosecutor debt and CASS obligations, though further documents remain outstanding.

Both clubs lost UEFA licenses last season due to unpaid wages and other debts, sidelining them from Europe despite strong domestic finishes. Álvarez emphasized strict adherence to rules, though the assembly could explore exceptional options.

The assembly approved wider reforms, including mandatory SAOE status for top clubs from 2027-28 and a guarantee fund—financed by the FAF, clubs, players, and coaches—to cover up to three months of salaries in disputes. The federation would recover funds by withholding UEFA or FIFA subsidies. The initial fund size awaits review of past cases.

FAF accounts for 2026 showed a €621 surplus, offset by stadium works, expanded UEFA youth and national team commitments, FC Andorra stadium rental, and the senior team's England match. The 2027 budget rises to €10.75 million amid growing activities.

Andorran clubs secure four European spots next season: one Champions League for the champion, three Conference League, with the third via playoffs between third- to sixth-placed teams. UE Sant Julià’s second-division return bid failed over unmet requirements, including ongoing debts, despite prosecutor-filed registration.
