Encamp Council Bids Farewell to FC Andorra Genuine Before World Cup

The Encamp municipal council welcomed the FC Andorra Genuine team on Tuesday at the Funicamp facility ahead of their departure for the Genuine World Cup in Houston.
The group, led by coach Montse Sánchez, will compete in the inclusive international tournament later this month. They took the Funicamp cable car to Solanelles, above 2,500 metres, for photos next to Encamp's new bear sculpture.
Finance, Sports and Economic Reactivation councillor Nino Marot and Social Affairs, Elderly and Human Resources councillor Sílvia Ramond voiced the council's support for the players, staff and families. Marot encouraged the team to enjoy the experience earned through a season of effort and dedication. He stressed sport's value in promoting cohesion, equal opportunities and inclusion, backed by the council's collaboration agreement with FC Andorra. Encamp's Encamp-El Pas de la Casa tourism brand counts among the project's key sponsors.
Council members gave each player a thermal bottle for Houston's heat and stickers for exchanging with athletes from nearly 50 countries.
The delegation leaves this Sunday, 26 July, for the US event, which features matches alongside cultural outings, including a NASA visit.
