Andorra Allows Overnight Motorhome Camping for 2026 Cycling Events

Andorra has temporarily authorized overnight camping for motorhomes, caravans, campers, and similar vehicles outside designated areas to handle the expected influx of participants, teams, companions, and visitors during two major cycling events in 2026.

A decree approved by the government and published in the Official Bulletin of the Principality (BOPA) on Wednesday suspends enforcement of Article 16 of the General Tourism Accommodation Law across the parishes. The measure, signed by Head of Government Xavier Espot, responds to anticipated high attendance at the events.

The authorization applies from July 31 to August 2, 2026, in Sant Julià de Lòria and Encamp for the 10th edition of La Purito Andorra. It then covers all parishes except Sant Julià de Lòria on August 24 and 25, 2026, coinciding with the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España, which runs entirely within Andorra.

Affected parishes and event organizers must designate and signpost parking spaces for these vehicles, while ensuring safety, public order, hygiene, and proper operation, as stipulated by the government.

The general law bans such overnight stays to regulate tourism lodging, but this exception accommodates fans for the races. Small tents face no restrictions.
