Andorra Allows Overnight Motorhome Camping for 2026 Cycling Events

The government decree by Xavier Espot eases lodging rules to manage crowds from the 10th La Purito Andorra and Vuelta a España stage, prioritizing safety and order in designated spots.

Key Points

  • Temporary waiver suspends tourism law for motorhomes during 2026 cycling events.
  • Applies July 31-Aug 2 in Sant Julià de Lòria and Encamp for La Purito Andorra.
  • Covers Aug 24-25 across most parishes for Vuelta a España stage 4.
  • Parish councils to designate and manage parking zones for safety and hygiene.

Andorra has approved a temporary measure allowing motorhomes, caravans, campers and similar vehicles to park overnight outside standard authorized zones during two major cycling events next year.

The government initiative, detailed in a decree published Wednesday in the Official Bulletin of the Principality (BOPA) and signed by Head of Government Xavier Espot, responds to expected large numbers of participants, technical staff, companions and spectators across the parishes.

The waiver suspends Article 16 of the General Tourism Accommodation Law. It applies from July 31 to August 2, 2026, in Sant Julià de Lòria and Encamp for the 10th edition of La Purito Andorra. For the Vuelta a España's fourth stage, set entirely within Andorra, the measure covers August 24 and 25, 2026, in all parishes except Sant Julià de Lòria.

Parish councils and event organizers must designate and signpost parking zones for these vehicles. They also bear responsibility for maintaining safety, public order, hygiene, civility and proper facilities.

Under normal rules, such overnight parking is banned to control tourist lodging. The exception aids cycling enthusiasts, while rules on small tents stay unchanged.
