Young Andorran tennis players Roger Losada, Àlex Capdevila, and Emma Escoda were eliminated in the first round of singles at the under-14 European Junior Championships in Most, Czech Republic, but continue competing in the Bonus Draw to gain further international experience.
The trio represented Andorra at the 50th edition of the tournament, Tennis Europe's premier under-14 event among its 600 annual competitions, held over the past weekend. After their early exits from the main draw, they remain active in the consolation phase.
In singles matches, Losada lost 6-1, 6-0 to Romania's Alexandru Saban. Capdevila fell 6-1, 6-2 to Romania's Bogdan-Vasile Caraus. Escoda was defeated 6-3, 6-1 by Croatia's Angelina Pavincic.
The Andorran boys' doubles team of Losada and Capdevila lost their opening match to a Norwegian pair. Escoda, paired with an Israeli player, was beaten by a Georgian duo.
FAT technical director Èric García noted the significant physical differences with opponents but commended the players' commitment. He described their presence at the event as a valuable opportunity, with the young athletes showing strong enthusiasm despite the challenges.
