A 50-year-old Andorran paraglider was found safe and well inside her vehicle early Wednesday morning after an extensive overnight search in the Cogulló area of Organyà.
Emergency teams, including firefighters from the Generalitat and Mossos d'Esquadra, launched the operation on Tuesday at 9:07pm following reports of the woman losing contact while flying over the north face of Cogulló, a popular paragliding spot. Ground units, canine teams, and drones were mobilized to comb the challenging terrain after a witness spotted what appeared to be a fall.
Rescuers located the paraglider's sail and seat at the landing zone around 7am. One hour later, at approximately 8am, they checked her Andorran-registered car—parked at the standard Organyà takeoff point—and discovered her resting inside, uninjured and unaware of the effort to find her. She had flown without her mobile phone and informed no one of her plans or location.
The search wrapped up soon after, with no injuries recorded. Officials noted the challenges of tracking flights in isolated areas.
