MoraBanc Andorra Signs James Akinjo for Liga Endesa Debut

MoraBanc Andorra has officially signed US point guard James Akinjo for the 2026-2027 season, bolstering the team's playmaking ahead of its Liga Endesa debut.

The 25-year-old, standing 1.85 metres tall, agreed to a one-year deal to reinforce the backcourt. He arrives after completing last season with Israel's Ironi Nes Ziona and steps in following Shannon Evans's exit.

Akinjo built a strong profile in US college basketball before turning pro in the NBA G League, where he developed further, earned All-Star recognition and stayed close to NBA opportunities with affiliates of several teams. Undrafted in 2022, he made his European debut last year in Israel.

Sporting director Jordi Ardèvol highlighted Akinjo's physical robustness and competitive edge. He described the guard as bringing high defensive quality through his intensity and energy, along with strong playmaking skills and assist distribution that should raise the team's overall level.

The move marks the fourth roster addition under new head coach Žan Tabak as MoraBanc Andorra assembles depth for Spain's premier league. El Periòdic first reported the signing last week, with the club confirming it on Tuesday.
