FC Andorra's Nacho Quintana Excited by Possession Style Fit

FC Andorra midfielder Nacho Quintana has voiced strong confidence in the club's forward-looking style, describing it as an ideal match for his playing strengths ahead of the Segunda División season.

The 25-year-old from Seseña, Toledo—born on 23 February 2001—joined on a free transfer for two seasons after playing a pivotal role in Eldense's promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion. There, he recorded 11 goals and three assists across league and cup matches. A product of Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla youth systems, Quintana debuted for Sevilla's first team before gaining experience at Lugo and Eldense. Standing 1.78m tall, the offensive midfielder excels between the lines with his mobility, passing ability, and knack for reaching the opposition box.

In his first interview with club media, Quintana called the team's philosophy—emphasizing high pressing, possession, and attacking intent—"perfectly suited to my style." He added that it was the main factor in choosing Andorra, arriving with "a lot of confidence and desire for a great year." Portraying himself as a hardworking player keen to be decisive in key areas, he aims to play a significant role without setting specific personal goals.

New to the Principat, Quintana said he has received "very good references" about life there despite lacking direct knowledge. The project, under coach Carles Manso and owner Gerard Piqué, immediately appealed when presented by his agent, aligning with its ambitious, possession-oriented approach. He urged steady progress while aiming high.

Quintana bolsters FC Andorra's ongoing squad rebuild. Recent signing striker Jordi Cano, from CE Europa, praised the clearly defined vision as a route to La Liga, highlighting its possession play and faith in his pace and team ethic. Full-back Juan Sebastián, ex-Real Zaragoza, dubbed it the "ideal environment" following a friendly debut against Millwall.

Talks persist for goalkeeper Pau López on a three-year contract with an optional fourth year; the 31-year-old former Spain international, currently at Real Betis, is considering a move due to family ties near Girona.

Outgoings remain in discussion: midfielder Dani Villahermosa, coveted by Real Oviedo for €1.7 million plus add-ons and Almería via his clause; centre-back Gael Alonso, eyed by relegated Mallorca despite a €5 million release fee; and striker Lautaro de León, linked to Polish side Raków Częstochowa. No transfers have been completed.
