Real Oviedo Nears €1.5M Signing of FC Andorra's Dani Villahermosa

The Segunda División side is finalizing a negotiated deal below his €2M release clause, despite rival interest. Villahermosa, a Barcelona native with a strong 2024-25 season, bolsters Oviedo's promotion push.

Key Points

  • Oviedo to pay over €1.5M base fee plus €200K promotion bonus for 25-year-old midfielder.
  • Villahermosa featured in 41 Segunda matches last season with 7 goals and 8 assists.
  • Deal driven by new director David Fernández, who knows player from Espanyol days.
  • Almería and Elche also interested; FC Andorra signed CB Lautaro Spatz separately.

Real Oviedo is on the verge of signing FC Andorra midfielder Dani Villahermosa, with the Segunda División club set to pay a transfer fee exceeding €1.5 million plus performance bonuses.

Reports from Asturian media and SER Andorra indicate the deal is all but complete, though FC Andorra insists no agreement has been finalized. If negotiations proceed smoothly, an announcement could come soon. The 25-year-old Barcelona native, whose contract with the Pyrenean side expires in June 2027, carries a €2 million release clause. Oviedo prefers a negotiated transfer to avoid paying it in full, with sources pointing to a base fee above €1.5 million and an additional €200,000 bonus should the carbayón team secure promotion back to Primera División after last season's relegation.

New sporting director David Fernández, who began his career at Espanyol—a club where Villahermosa rose through the youth ranks and debuted in Primera in 2022—has driven the move. Fernández knows the player well from his time at the Perico outfit.

Villahermosa joined FC Andorra on a free transfer from Castelló in February last year, taking a step down from Spain's second tier to back the tricolour project, which earned promotion to professional football that season. In 2024-25 back in Segunda, he proved pivotal under coaches Ibai Gómez and Carles Manso, featuring in all but one match—41 appearances for 3,206 minutes, seven goals, and eight assists.

Interest has grown, with Almería now entering the race alongside earlier reports of attention from Elche. Oviedo, led by Julián Calero, views the midfielder as a key addition to its squad planning.

Separately, FC Andorra continues its own reinforcements under Carles Manso, having signed 24-year-old centre-back Lautaro Spatz from Villarreal B. The Italian-Argentine, capable at full-back, made 33 appearances with three goals last season, aiding a promotion play-off push, and previously scored eight times in 86 Primera RFEF games for Algeciras. He is due to report for pre-season at Pinatar Arena or in the Principality.
