Enes Sali Requests Two Weeks to Reach Full Fitness for FC Andorra Debut

Enes Sali, the 20-year-old Romanian-Canadian left-back recently signed by FC Andorra, says he needs a short period to regain his match rhythm and identify his optimal role within coach Carles Manso's system ahead of Saturday's Segunda División opener at home against Ceuta.

Unveiled by the club on Monday with a brief interview, the Toronto-born player met the press that afternoon at Encamp's new stadium. He described his switch from Al-Riyadh in Saudi Arabia—where he appeared in 13 games this year and provided one assist—as a seamless match for the team's approach. "The entire staff welcomed me warmly, and when Andorra called, I didn't hesitate—it was the ideal spot," Sali said.

Having come through Barcelona's youth ranks, he highlighted how the academy instilled game-building skills and a possession-oriented style that he believes will translate effectively to strengthen FC Andorra's play. Sali prefers holding the ball, taking on defenders in one-on-one situations, and creating chances from the left flank, a position left vacant by Josep Cerdà's departure to Mallorca.

Upon entering the dressing room, he immediately sensed the squad's tight-knit dynamic, with every teammate—not just the English speakers—offering support. Eager to return to Europe and Spanish football, which he rates as the world's finest following Spain's recent World Cup triumph, Sali noted the challenge of adapting after limited recent minutes. He played 45 minutes in the final preseason friendly at Huesca, despite fatigue from travel.

New to the Principat, the player is staying in a hotel and taking in the mountain scenery during downtime. With international experience including a prior Romania cap, MLS stints, and the Saudi Pro League, he views regular Segunda appearances as a route back to national team consideration. Sali expects a tough debut against Ceuta but affirmed his availability if selected, predicting strong results if the team clicks: "I know that if the side functions well, goals from me and my teammates will come easily, and we'll win plenty of matches."
