Andorra la Vella council paid €59,868.36, including IGI, to Suite Plaza Hotel for housing FC Barcelona's women's team during their recent pre-season stay in the principality.
The governing board approved the direct award at the proposal of the Tourism and Business Promotion department, according to an official notice in the Butlletí Oficial del Principat d’Andorra (BOPA). The delegation, comprising around 50 people including 30 players, coaching staff, press officers and other club officials, arrived last Thursday and departed on Monday after four nights and five training days.
Council officials see the arrangement as a means to attract top-tier teams, boost sports tourism and establish the capital as a prime pre-season destination. The stay underscores Andorra's facilities for elite athletes. The BOPA notice did not specify further services beyond lodging.
