Andorrana Gymnastics Federation Rejects Financial and Irregularity Claims

The Andorrana Gymnastics Federation (FAG) has firmly rejected allegations of financial difficulties and irregularities in athlete selections, while pledging renewed efforts to reconcile with dissenting clubs.

In a detailed statement issued in response to media inquiries, the federation affirmed its economic stability, stating it holds sufficient treasury and financial resources to complete the current season, honour commitments, and follow through on planned activities. It explicitly ruled out any insolvency or obstacles to continued operations, pointing to a 2024 surplus confirmed by the ministry of Sport under the previous board. The current board assumed office in November 2025, after the 2025/26 season had begun and much of the planning was already in place, limiting its scope for major changes.

The FAG acknowledged ongoing discrepancies with several clubs, noting it has pursued dialogue and conciliation through meetings to hear concerns and seek common ground. Although full agreements have not always been reached, the board plans to reconvene clubs at the start of the new season to address issues collaboratively. It urged all parties to prioritise institutional respect and joint progress over public confrontations that could harm the sport.

On technical decisions, including athlete selections and call-ups, the federation insisted these rely solely on sporting and technical standards—such as athletes' levels, progress, results, established benchmarks, competition requirements, and input from professionals. These criteria were shared with families during a transparency-focused meeting in November 2025. The FAG dismissed any suggestions of influence from personal, family, economic, or sponsorship ties, vowing to uphold the honour and professionalism of its technical staff.

The board committed to working with rigour, transparency, and responsibility, always prioritising athletes' interests and Andorran gymnastics development. It called for solutions to rebuild trust among clubs, families, athletes, and professionals.

This position contrasts with prior reports of internal crises, including multiple athlete withdrawals over the past 18 months and tensions with most clubs except Valira. The ministry has limited its involvement to financial matters, confirming the surplus while leaving other disputes for internal resolution. The FAG had not commented earlier.
