Barcelona Women's Team Starts Preseason Camp in Andorra la Vella

FC Barcelona's women's football team arrived in Andorra la Vella on Thursday for a five-day preseason training camp at the Estadi Comunal Joan Samarra i Vila.

The squad, led by coach Pere Romeu, will remain until Monday, focusing on physical, tactical, and team-building work in the high-altitude environment. Key players including Aitana Bonmatí, Patri Guijarro, Cata Coll, Caroline Graham Hansen, and Clàudia Pina are expected to take part as the team prepares to defend its titles in the new season.

The camp fulfills a pledge by club president Joan Laporta, who highlighted plans to strengthen ties with Andorra during his election campaign events in the Principality. Both the club and Andorra la Vella authorities have welcomed the visit, marking the first time the women's first team has held a preseason concentration here.

This resumes a historic link between Barcelona and Andorra, where the men's first team trained consecutively from 1983 to 1987 and played six friendlies against FC Andorra between 1978 and 1990. The women's team now continues that tradition nearly four decades later, benefiting from facilities upgraded with over €1 million in investments during the current mandate.

Andorra la Vella's first consul major, Sergi González, described hosting the champions as "a pleasure and a great opportunity to position our parish as a destination ready for top-level sport." He credited the achievement to recent improvements in sports infrastructure, which support elite training camps and events.

The stay aligns with Barcelona's preseason schedule ahead of friendly matches and the official campaign start. No details on public access or additional games have been released. Other professional Barcelona teams have also used Andorran venues, such as Encamp, for preseason preparation.
