Andorran skier Joan Verdú has completed two days of training at the Swiss resort of Saas-Fee, testing equipment and meeting with his new technical team led by head coach Natko Zrnčić-Dim.
The session marked his first snow contact this preseason, ahead of an extended camp in New Zealand starting on 11 August alongside the Norwegian World Cup team. Numerous top athletes have used Saas-Fee recently to sharpen their preparations before southern hemisphere trips.
Verdú's New Zealand programme kicks off at Roundhill with free skiing, building to giant slalom and super-G work on progressively tougher groomed slopes until 30 August. The team shifts to Ohau for training until 10 or 11 September on a competition-standard piste, before wrapping up at Coronet Peak with shorter, technical courses.
He will then head back to Europe to finalise preseason fitness and snow sessions in Andorra and the Alps prior to the World Cup opener.
