MoraBanc Andorra Director Praises New G-League Roster After Training Start

MoraBanc Andorra sports director Jordi Ardévol has expressed optimism about the team's new-look roster, highlighting the talent and competitiveness brought by seven signings from the G-League, including James Akinjo and Cameron McGriff.

The presentations of the newcomers kicked off on Wednesday at the club's headquarters in La Seu d'Urgell, with preseason training already in progress. Six of the seven lack prior ACB experience, a deliberate choice after challenges in securing established Spanish players to fit coach Žan Tabak's physical and versatile system. Ardévol described it as an "assumed bet," praising the G-League's pool of driven athletes ready to compete every minute, both against opponents and themselves.

Akinjo, a 25-year-old American point guard standing 1.85 meters, joins for one season to bolster playmaking, defense, and scoring. Ardévol called him a rare blend of high-level defense, creation, and scoring ease. The newcomer, who played last season with the Milwaukee Bucks' affiliate, cited the ACB's elite status as a key draw for his European debut. He described the team as fast-paced and physical, offering versatility on both ends of the court, and noted strong early chemistry in the locker room.

McGriff, a 28-year-old, 2.01-meter wing-forward from the Indiana Pacers' G-League team, also signed for one season to add interior toughness. Ardévol praised his physicality and relentless drive. McGriff said he has felt welcomed from day one, enjoying Andorra's landscapes and atmosphere, with positive team bonds forming on and off the court.

Ardévol said the full squad, now closed and training for several days ahead of most rivals, will need time and patience to adapt. He stressed this situation will not serve as an excuse for results. Further player introductions are planned as preparations continue.
