MoraBanc Andorra Director Praises New G-League Roster After Training Start

MoraBanc Andorra sports director Jordi Ardévol has expressed satisfaction with the team's new roster after initial training sessions, stating that the group is already delivering on the club's vision for a more physical and versatile lineup.

The club began its series of official presentations for seven new players on Wednesday, starting with Americans James Akinjo and Cameron McGriff. Both come from the NBA's G-League, which Ardévol described as underrated, and join a squad where six of the seven newcomers lack prior experience in the Liga Endesa.

Ardévol explained that the team had to take a chance on fresh talent after failing to secure experienced Spanish players who fit the desired playing style under coach Zan Tabak. "We had to try," he said, adding that the full roster has been training together for several days, unlike many other league teams. While an extra measure of patience will be required for their adaptation, he insisted it would never be used as an excuse for underperformance.

The director highlighted Akinjo's rare blend of elite defense, playmaking, and scoring ability, calling him extremely competitive. McGriff, a pivot, brings similar toughness and versatility with both hands, along with a strong drive to improve.

McGriff said the squad is heading in the right direction, with good chemistry developing in the locker room, though he admitted not yet grasping the league's level and avoided making predictions. Akinjo, excited for his first European stint, described the Spanish competition as top-tier and emphasized his love for enjoying the game.

The pair, former rivals, now relish the challenge of playing together. Ardévol noted their hunger aligns with the club's new approach, prioritizing enjoyment alongside victories. More presentations are scheduled as preparations continue for the season.
