Ordino Reschedules Cota 1.300 Après-Ski to Late February 2027

The Ordino parish council will reschedule its Cota 1.300 après-ski event for 2027, concentrating the program from late February until Easter week.

This decision stems from this winter's experience, when organizers advanced the start to mid-January to test a longer run. Attendance suffered from short daylight and adverse weekend weather, prompting a return to the season's closing stretch. Councilor for Tourism, Promotion, and Sports Jordi Serracanta shared the plan in comments to the Andorran News Agency, explaining that late-season light encourages more post-ski participation.

The inaugural edition launched in February, but this year saw an earlier mid-January kickoff. Serracanta pointed out that January's conditions, including near-constant weekend storms, failed to draw crowds. "We've seen that in January, beyond this winter's bad weather nearly every weekend, it doesn't really entice people to head out," he noted.

By late February, he added, days lengthen enough for sunlight to linger until 5:30 or 6 p.m., prompting visitors to extend their stays for the activities. The shift fits Ordino's approach to refining events swiftly, aided by the parish's compact scale. "We need to act boldly, experiment, and our strength as a small parish lets us identify issues and correct them promptly," Serracanta said.

He emphasized the event's strengthening appeal, with local outlets eager to join via stalls and spaces. "This shows businesses want to set up and feature their venues at Cota 1.300," he observed. The move supports Ordino's broader calendar, strengthening staples like Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB, Nit de la Candela, Nits Obertes, and Fira del Bestiar to animate the parish through low seasons and attract visitors nationwide.
