Andorra la Vella hosted the torch relay for the Special Olympics Tarragona 2026 on Tuesday, 29 September, the flame's sole stop outside Catalonia ahead of the games.
The torch arrived at 6pm in Plaça de la Rotonda before travelling through several streets in the parish to reach Plaça del Poble. There, participants read a manifesto in support of inclusive sport. Speeches moved indoors to the Andorra la Vella Congress Centre in case of poor weather.
Athletes, representatives from local organisations, volunteers, and communal council members took part in the procession. The event was free and open to the public.
This relay segment formed part of a wider tour across Catalan municipalities to engage communities and emphasise sport's value in promoting inclusion.
The Special Olympics Tarragona 2026 runs from 9 to 12 October, featuring 1,700 athletes with intellectual disabilities from ten European countries competing in 15 disciplines, backed by more than 500 volunteers.
