FC Andorra Nears Loan Deal for Racing's Young Star Diego Díaz

FC Andorra continues negotiations to secure a season-long loan for Racing de Santander's 21-year-old attacking midfielder Diego Díaz before the summer transfer window closes at 23:59.

The deal, advanced by journalist Ángel García of Cazurriendo and Cantabrian media outlets, remains in progress despite Racing's recent promotion to Primera División. The club renewed Díaz's contract until 2029 and sees the move as key to guaranteeing playing time for one of its youth academy standouts. Díaz, who debuted for the first team in La Liga against Villarreal with 13 minutes off the bench in the season opener, has limited opportunities amid new arrivals at El Sardinero.

Last season with Racing's reserves, Rayo Cantabria, in Segunda Federación, Díaz delivered a strong second half, scoring seven goals and providing five assists across 15 matches while excelling as a versatile winger on either flank. His earlier reserve campaign yielded three goals and one assist in 27 games. He also gained senior experience in Liga Hypermotion, debuting on 15 December 2024 against Huesca and adding minutes a month later versus Racing Ferrol, plus over half an hour more that year.

Díaz, a left-footed talent known for his technical ability and scoring threat from wide or deeper roles, favors Andorra's offer under coach Carles Manso amid interest from other second-division clubs. FC Andorra hopes to strengthen its attacking options in the final hours, though no official confirmation has emerged and the operation is not yet finalized.
