Jesús Owono Returns to FC Andorra on Two-Year Deal with Options

Jesús Owono, Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper, has rejoined FC Andorra on a two-year contract with two optional additional seasons, opting to return despite interest from Deportivo Alavés and Primera División sides.

Owono credited the determination of coach Jaume Nogués and sporting director Carles Manso for swaying his choice during his unveiling at Nou Estadi de la FAF. He described realizing it was time to advance with the club that first spotted his talent and gave him his break. "I wanted to come back here, where I was discovered and given the opportunity from the start," he said.

The 23-year-old will challenge Pau López, the first-choice keeper, and Nico Ratti for a starting spot. Owono embraced the rivalry, saying the group must make selections tough and help each other improve daily. He praised the squad's youth and ambition, avoiding specific targets at this stage but promising enjoyment akin to the end of last season.

FC Andorra wrapped up the summer transfer window with 15 signings beyond Diego Díaz's late arrival—excluding Aron Rodrigo's loan to Mirandés post-arrival. New additions include Owono and López in goal; defenders Andoni, Juan Sebastián, and Lautaro Spatz; midfielders Quintana, Schneider, and Solozábal; and forwards Jordi Cano, Enes Sali, Sidibe, Hugo López, Julian Rijkhoff, and Díaz, plus Golubovic.

Owono joins a revamped team under owner Gerard Piqué, which has recorded one win and two losses to open the campaign. He pointed to promising showings against Celta Vigo, where late concessions cost points, and Eibar in Encamp against a promotion rival. The side fully understands Nogués' system and is adapting to raised stakes, with Owono sensing real drive for major results.
