Jesús Owono Returns to FC Andorra on Two-Year Deal with Options

Jesús Owono, the Equatorial Guinea international, rejoined FC Andorra as goalkeeper on a two-year contract with two additional optional years, crediting the determination of coach Jaume Nogués and sporting director Carles Manso for securing his return.

During his Wednesday press conference, Owono said his choice reflected a desire to return to a place where he felt discovered and given his first major opportunity. Despite Deportivo Alavés's efforts to retain him and offers from Primera División clubs, the club's persistence proved decisive. "I wanted to come back here," he stated, adding that "no one can wipe the smile off my face for having come home."

Owono faces stiff competition in goal from Pau López and Nico Ratti, a challenge he welcomes with respect. He expressed admiration for both, noting López's stature and Ratti's quality at home. "The decision on who plays is up to the coach, and all we can do is make it as difficult as possible for him," Owono said.

The goalkeeper highlighted the squad's renewed ambition despite heavy changes from last season. Describing the group as young, driven and full of excitement without self-imposed limits, he believes it has the potential for major achievements. Owono avoided setting classification targets early in the season, saying matches would reveal aspirations—whether aiming high or fighting relegation.

He assessed the season's start positively despite one win and two losses, pointing to strong performances against Celta Vigo and Eibar. "This year, I truly say it from the heart, we will enjoy FC Andorra like we did at the end of last season," Owono affirmed.

Owono voiced confidence in the club's growth under Gerard Piqué's leadership, embracing challenges ahead. "I feel we will do something big, and that's why I've come here. I want to contribute, wherever it may be."
