Mutic and Aquino Unveiled as MoraBanc Andorra's New ACB Signings

MoraBanc Andorra unveiled forwards Lazar Mutić and Owen Aquino as its latest signings for the 2026/2027 Liga Endesa season during a press event at Andorra Telecom's Node building.

Sporting director Jordi Ardèvol called the duo top priorities identified in initial planning sessions. He praised Mutić, a Bosnian interior from Real Madrid's youth ranks, as a "force of nature" capable of guarding multiple positions, securing rebounds and thriving in transition while offering scoring threats. Aquino, who shares Dominican roots and also honed his skills in Madrid's system, impressed with unteachable traits like intuition, explosiveness and touch. Ardèvol emphasized their shared ambition, nonconformist mindset and willingness to do whatever it takes for team victories after unconventional paths to the professional level.

Mutić progressed through Spain's lower divisions—EBA, LEB Plata and LEB Oro—before gaining prominence in leagues across Lithuania and Belgium. "I've always aimed to reach the ACB, and now I must make the most of the chance the club has given me," he said, urging intensified work in preseason to build chemistry amid a roster heavy on newcomers.

Aquino pursued four years of US college basketball at Liberty and High Point universities before turning pro. "Any player raised in Spain dreams of the ACB, and debuting with this club is a privilege," he noted, citing warm welcomes from holdovers and budding team rapport.

Ardèvol provided an update on Kostas Kostadinov, confirming the Bulgarian's loan to Belgium's Coretec Oostende in the BNXT League after a US college deal with the University of Mississippi collapsed. The opportunity, which could have netted Andorra around €200,000, fell apart when Kostadinov lost NCAA eligibility as the roster took shape. "He's one of ours, and the plan is for him to return next year," Ardèvol said, viewing the move as ideal for his growth in a solid club while safeguarding team interests.

Andorra Telecom client director David Baró described the partnership as aligned on national pride and dedication, extending best wishes to the refreshed project.

The squad eyes Sunday's friendly against Barça in the Trofeu d'Encamp, followed by Catalan League openers: Kids&Us Manresa on Wednesday September 9 and Barça the next night, both at 21:00. A potential final on Sunday September 13 would start at noon against the winner from the other group. Club president Gorka Aixàs attended the league's launch in Barcelona.
