  • Finished 31st out of 58, 0.18s behind 30th, with 27 under 4 minutes.
  • Breakthrough year includes NR in 800m (1:46.02) and 1500m (3:34.54).
  • Germany's Robert Farken won in 3:51.80; Andorra's Ariadna Fenés next in half-marathon.

Pol Moya placed 31st in the road mile at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, clocking a new Andorran national record of 4:01.91.

The Andorran runner lowered the previous mark—held by Josep Graells since 1987 at 4:15.53—by more than 13 seconds. He missed a top-30 finish by just 18 hundredths of a second in a race of 58 elite entrants, where 27 competitors dipped under four minutes. Moya crossed the line right behind Finland's Santtu Heikkinen, who took 30th in 4:01.73, and ahead of Denmark's Gustav Bendsen (4:02.07) and Norway's Moa Abounnachat Bollerød (4:02.63).

Germany's Robert Farken won in 3:51.80, the fastest time globally this year, with the US's Yared Nuguse second in 3:52.33 and Luxembourg's Ruben Querinjean third in 3:52.77. The event saw several national records broken, including Oceania's best.

Moya described it as a strong season finale despite the crowded field. "I think it's a very good result to end the season," he said, noting the difficulty of progressing amid top-level rivals. He stayed protected from the wind initially but took a wide line in the first corner after others cut inside, then surged in the closing stages yet faded on the final stretch.

The performance highlights Moya's breakthrough year, with new national records also in the 800m (1:46.02) and 1,500m (3:34.54). He now heads into rest before preparing for next season.

Andorra's involvement continues with Ariadna Fenés in Sunday's half-marathon at 9:10 a.m. In the women's road mile, France's Agathe Guillemot took gold in 4:22.74, ahead of Ethiopia's Freweyni Hailu (4:24.35) and Kenya's Mirriam Cherop (4:25.71), who trains under Josep Carballude, technical director of the Andorran Athletics Federation.
