Vicky Jiménez Advances to Round of 16 at WTA 125 Caldas da Rainha

Andorran tennis player Vicky Jiménez has been eliminated from the WTA 125 Caldas da Rainha Challenge in Portugal after losing 2-1 (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) to local player Francisca Jorge in the singles round of 16.

The match, which lasted more than two hours, saw Jiménez, ranked No. 173 in the WTA standings and the tournament's No. 2 seed, struggle early in the first set. She dropped serve quickly, falling to a 3-0 deficit before a final break sealed the 6-2 scoreline for Jorge, who is ranked No. 219.

Jiménez leveled the contest in the second set, keeping pace until a 4-4 tie. She then broke Jorge's serve and held her own to claim it 6-4. The third set followed a similar pattern, with Jiménez trailing 3-1 after a shaky start. She fought back to 4-4, but Jorge closed out the match 6-4.

Jiménez had advanced to this stage with a 6-4, 6-1 first-round win over Canada's Katherine Sebov (No. 214), rallying from an early 1-4 deficit. She exited doubles the previous day, losing 4-6, 4-6 alongside Georgina García Pérez to Czech Gabriela Knutson and Germany's Caroline Werner.
