Andorran rally driver Joan Vinyes and co-driver Jordi Mercader claimed their best result of the season by finishing fourth at the Rally de Càceres, a round of the Spanish Dirt Rally Championship, just 2.6 seconds off the podium.
Piloting a Citroën C3 Rally2, the pair battled closely with Dorado and Lamas until the final stage. After two consecutive retirements due to technical issues earlier in the year, they arrived in Extremadura focused on regaining consistency. The event featured three stages run twice, totaling 84.42 kilometers of timed specials on a dry, hard surface covered in dust, leaving little room for mistakes.
Vinyes and Mercader posted the third-fastest time in the qualifying stage and stayed among the leaders all day. In the closing special, they pushed hard for a podium spot with the second-best time of the stage, but it proved insufficient to overtake the top three.
The result marks a strong showing for the Andorran duo in the national series.
