Andorran athlete Samu Ponce placed eighth in the Marató Pirineu, part of the Salomon Ultra Pirineu series, completing the 43km course with 2,900 metres of positive elevation gain in 3 hours, 59 minutes and 25 seconds.

The race took place in Bagà, Spain, where Ponce finished 21 minutes and 11 seconds behind the winner, Alain Santamaría. Santamaría clocked 3 hours, 38 minutes and 14 seconds to claim victory.

Ponce, who represents Altra Running Europe, secured a strong top-10 result in the demanding mountain marathon despite tough conditions. The event unfolded without alterations to the course, even as weather challenges impacted other categories.
